This vent hose connects the fuel tank to the filler neck and ensures air circulation during refueling. On T1 and Karmann Ghia models - this T-piece is located under the driver's side of the engine - where it is exposed to significant vibrations and heat. Original parts (OEM 113 201 179A / 311 201 179A) often become hard and porous - leading to leaks or cracks. A replacement part is definitely needed if you smell fuel odors in the engine compartment or see fluid. We recommend combining this with a new fuel pump or complete tank set for a thorough fuel system refresh.
