Left rear backing plate for the VW Type 3 from 08/1965, OEM number 311 609 439D. The plate forms the base for the brake shoes, wheel cylinder and retaining springs and seals the brake drum against dirt. Replacement is common in case of corrosion or worn brake shoe mounting points.
