The gear lever rod connects your gearbox to the gear lever - so if it wears out or breaks - you'll immediately notice it in your gear selection. On a T1 - Karmann Ghia - or Type 181 - it's relatively easy to replace - as long as you know that VW used two variants: OEM 111 711 155F and 111 711 155G. Pay close attention to which one your car has before ordering - as they are not interchangeable. Combine this part with a new shift bolt and clutch cable for a complete overhaul of your gear linkage.
