Why a BBT recirculating ball steering box?
In the quest for a good steering box, BBT literally travelled the world – only to find out that what they were looking for simply no longer exists. The original VW Beetle steering box technology is no longer used in mass production anywhere, which means the correct machining method for this type of steering box has been lost for good.
Modern CNC machines can produce something similar, but not truly correct. Close, but not good enough.
That is why BBT moved up to the next generation: the recirculating ball steering box. The housing has been kept as close as possible to the original, so the original look is preserved.
After five years of development and testing, the BBT steering box is now available. It mounts in the same location and with the same hardware as the original steering box.
A worthy substitute for safe, high-quality steering. Finally you can drive your classic Volkswagen with a direct, active steering response.
Please note
After replacing the steering box, the wheel alignment must be readjusted.
